Eh

Ok I went to my first Night of Stars in 12 years. I can now say I've done it, and don't really need to do it ever again. It was a typical fundraising schmooze-fest. Lots of outrageously-estimated, donated, silent-auction items, selling to people with more money than sense. Some bargains, but not many. One Lanscaping firm, loosely associated with the theatre, donated a landscaping design. I really had to chuckle about this. It wasn't any of the actual execution of the landscaping, only the design, valued at $400, with an expiration date of two weeks from now. I didn't notice what the final price was. There were a few 'priceless' items, a costume design from our theatre's designer (last year's buyer got a custom halloween costume for their brat), or a 'director for a day' assistanceship with Director T, etc. The main raffle prizes were a custom diamond pendant, air-fare for two, or a video i-Pod. I was gunning for the i-pod with my three raffle tickets. Shit outta luck. The dinner was good. I don't think it was $35 dollars good, but probably $20-25 good. Salad, entree of snapper with an Hollandaise sauce, and a tiny pork cutlet, with rice and black beans as a side, and KeyLime pie for dessert. And thanks to an unforseen fiasco while buying my shirt the other day, compounded by personal stupidity, I had NO cash on hand for any drinks. I did take a flask of the Captain that I nipped into occasionally, but I also was scheduled to work later that night for the comedy night, so couldn't drink much.
The event was way too stuffy to enjoy sober. Oh well. The high points were, seeing my lawyer there, and finding out from our BoD techie that our building is going wireless. In two weeks (no, really. I mean it this time. Unh huh.). And that our next changeover will be webcast in streaming video (I'll post the site when I know it.). The downside is that I left my camera on the dining room table, so I can't share the 'excitement' with you all.
Today I'm taking show shots during the performances of Midsummer. If there is an outstanding one or two I might post it.
