Screwy Oklahoma
This is not late December weather. Yesterday, the 26th of December, we had all the windows open, and the screens in, and the fan on. It was F***in' HOT. Ok, 73 degrees is not really hot, but come on. It was still 70 when I called my parents at 8 pm. My parents are in KEY WEST and they said they were only at 78! All my friends in various parts of the country are under snow. Rockford has at least a foot. I want some snow. Instead I'm chatting to my parents whilst sitting on our back porch wearing only sweatpants, no shirt.
We had a doozy of a rainstorm last night. Wake-you-up-out-of-a-sound-sleep thunderstorm.
This morning is cooler, especially with the window still open. Maybe cool spring or summer morning cool. The kind where you cuddle up under the second blanket and delay getting out of bed as long as you can, before you have to put on the slippers and hurry off to the hot shower. But you know it's gonna be a hot summer day so you don't worry about the morning chill, or think twice about leaving the window open. Yeah, that sort of morning.
Shortly before we left Rockford, Wife got addicted to the bar shuffleboard. You know the tables that are 10 or so feet long and covered with sand to make the pucks glide better. Wife has been seeing them in catalogs and really wants one. So, for Christmas, I found her a shuffleboard table, or rather a tabletop shuffleboard. One of the many, many, many catalogs we get is Bits and Pieces. A fun catalog of puzzles, games and things. They had a tabletop version. So I went ahead, hid the catalog, and ordered it. I did the obligatory shipping to work so I can bring it out at the last minute (Wife has NO patience and is very much into instant gratification). She had no idea, and loves it. We played for about 3 hours last night.
Well, happy winter to all my readers. I'm gonna go work on my tan. (ok, not really, you know me too well)
