Cool things for this week.

A bit of personal success for me today. I've been working up at one of the local high schools, helping them with their DMX cable runs to their onstage electrics. After a brief confusion over the actual number of wires needed in the 5 pin XLR connector (correct answer, boys and girls, is 3!), I got their Revolution moving lights working. Although I'm not sure I actually did anything other than program their board correctly, they see me as a wiz. Now all I still have to do out there is fix the last two boxes attached to the next two electrics (the band shell was in so we couldn't fly them in today), and I'll be done.
Went up to THE CITY, Monday, to see a demo of the new ETC light board, the Ion. SWEET little board. Lots of really cool innovations (ex: now, a moving light takes up 18-36 channels for all the attribute controls. The Ion has each unit as ONE channel, with all the attributes attached to it without taking up channel space.) You can select a moving light, and pull up a color wheel display (that's not the actual display but it looks like the left part of that image.) and pick a color on the spectrum and the intel will make that color!, or select a catalog number and it will make that. Really sweet! And it's all USB or ethernet connections, in addition to the standard DMX connections. I think I want one. I'll get to see another demo at the USITT convention. Which I'm going to...

Oh yeah, the 'upskirt' pic is now at 370 views. Keep 'em coming.

It's Convention time!

I've just gotten word that I'm going to be able to go to the USITT conference in Houston in March! Woo Hoo. (United States Institute for Theatre Technology)
I think DeafGirl and I are gonna be doin' some partying like it was 2005! I've never been to one of these before, but I'm SO looking forward to it. And I get to (have to?) spend some time plugging our program at our Booth on the expo floor. Our head of the department has backed out, so my boss said, "we have a hotel room and registration if you want it..."

HELL YES!

now to convince Wife that this is a good thing...

One day later...

Sister-in-law upskirt

Todays update. 225 hits and counting. This is SO wrong.

Ok, since I'm doing links, here's one to the original stream with other family history photos. One from my wedding.

Life

Ok somehow, January seems to have totally escaped me. And a good chunk of February too.
oh well.

I've been scanning and uploading some family photos of mine and Wifes. Old stuff, like grand parents and great grandparents. Scanning and posting them to flickr.
One of the photos was Wifes sister as a baby, either just getting up to her feet, or in the process of taking a spill. She's standing there, hands on the ground in front of her, little baby skirt sticking straight up, bloomer covered diaper straight at the camera. Of course the stream I'm posting it to will never get seen by more than 6 people. I write that I'm tempted to add a bunch of descriptive tags to lure in the porn-surfers. But then I figure, why not. I'll post it where neither Wife nor sister will likely see it. On my main Flickr page. With all the tags I feel like. I posted it about 9 this morning, and now, at 6 in the evening, it has almost 120 views! I LOVE IT! I love f*cking with their minds. Nothing like an up-skirt shot to bring in the porn-surfers...

I'm actually teaching a couple of classes this week. Boss is out of town, working a gig in N'awlins, so I get to take his Monday and Wed. class, Intro to Stage Lighting. The one that has the lab hours as a requirement, so it's the kids I already know. Monday was "how to hang a light" and tomorrow is "Cables and Connectors". Gonna be fun. The first class was quick and easy, since most had already learned it for their lab hours. The next one will be more intensive. more detailed.

I'm also dealing with a new frustration. Wife keeps coming up with ideas that are totally unfeasible given our physiques. One was that she wants to get a Cooper Mini. Yeah. Right. ME, in a Mini. I'd have to take out the front seat and sit in back and stretch out my legs to drive. And it probably couldn't handle both of us...
A Vespa. She wants a Vespa. How to I tell her how unrealistic it is to consider it? Back in college, I considered getting a scooter too. It was all the rage, they were just getting popular. 'Til somebody pointed out that a guy my size would be laughed off the street on anything less than a 350 motorcycle. So I've gotten over it. I'm happy with my little wagon. I'd consider a truck, but I have a hard time getting in and out of anything smaller than the car I've got. I just don't bend that well anymore.

Ahhh life.
